Fitness wood Flooring | Gym Flooring
Safety, performance, ease of maintenance and durability – these are some of the most important considerations when it comes to flooring in gyms, fitness studios and health clubs.
Installing a fitness floor which is safe for its members to use, minimising risk of injury and maximising performance is a top priority for Health Club Managers, but it is also important to create the right style and atmosphere with a floor that looks the part. Health clubs aim to appeal to clients in certain ways by conveying a strong style and set of values which their prospective clients will relate to. As in any interior, the floor is a vital element of the design and can strongly influence the way that clients feel about the space and their enjoyment of it.
Design your fitness floors with colours
Junckers range of solid hardwood floors includes a full spectrum of stained colours from white shades, grey and natural wood tones, to jet black; almost anything is possible. But Junckers also offers natural Beech, Ash, Maple and Oak, for the traditionalists. This opens the door to unlimited design options such as warmer tones for the meditative mood of yoga or wellness spaces or more vibrant hues to offer the right amount of pizzazz for Zumba and other fast-moving activities. Junckers narrow two-strip floorboards create clean lines which are ideal for contemporary or minimalist concepts whilst wide planks can be used to create a raw and earthy, or naturally rustic appearance. There is also the option of patterned floors, such as herringbone or Hexparket, which can be used to create unique interest to the space.
But it is not only about style. A studio floor must be durable and long-lasting to cope with the heavy demands of a full programme of daily workout classes. Junckers fitness floors have a proven track record in fitness studios, used in fitness centres all over the world and even in military training establishments as they have a reputation for being able to withstand very heavy use.
Day to day maintenance is fast and simple using Junckers purpose made cleaning products. Longer term the gym floor can be cleaned and resealed to keep the wood protected.
Fitness wood flooring - Certified wood and caring for the indoor climate
Junckers only use wood from forests managed in a sustainable and environmentally responsible way. Planting new trees as old ones are cut down is one of the characteristics of sustainable forestry. To protect the climate, we strive to use wood harvested as close as possible to our factory. This is why our raw wood is mainly sourced from forest areas in Denmark, Sweden, Germany and Poland.
Junckers achieved Chain of Custody certification in 2006 and has since been able to offer PEFC certified products. In 2010, we also achieved certification under the FSC® scheme.
Furthermore, we have a wide range of wood flooring and woodcare products that carry the Danish Indoor Climate Label. The Indoor Climate Label is your guarantee that the products do not have odours or chemical substances that can adversely affect the air quality in the room.
Junckers Fitness wood flooring - Fast to install
Junckers solid hardwood floor systems are pre-finished, fast to install and cost effective. This all helps the installer to keep to his schedule and means that the owner will have minimal “down time” before the studio will be ready for business. A solid hardwood floor offers unbeatable life cycle costs and the initial cost will be less that a similar synthetic floor finish, with all the low carbon and environmental benefits that solid hardwood brings.
In addition to its extensive range of timber species, colours and looks, Junckers offers sports and activity floor systems to suit different types of use with a variety of subfloor types and thicknesses. Junckers SylvaSport and SylvaTech Plus 22mm thick solid hardwood floorboards may be installed in one of several ways depending upon the type of subfloor and required height. For refurbishments, a low level floor such as the Clip System or UnoBat 45 battens is a good choice. For uneven subfloors a levelling system such as New Era or UnoBat 62+ will provide a fast installation time without the need to screed and level the base first.

Sub-construction: The foundation for your fitness floor
Sub-construction refers to the underlying structure that supports the surface of a fitness floor. The sub-construction of a fitness floorplays a critical role in the overall performance and safety. A well-constructed sub-floor and sub-structure provide a stable foundation for the surface, ensuring that the floor remains level and does not warp or buckle over time. They also help to absorb shock and reduce the impact on the athletes' joints, helping to prevent injuries.
At Junckers you can choose between a wide variety of sub-constructions that will fit any need you might have.
