A new office and commercial building by award-winning Danish studio KHR Architecture has been designed to make the most of natural light and views of the surrounding area. Østerport II is an extraordinary building with large windows shaded by canopies that form part of the façade, offering panoramic views of the urban landscape.
The upper floor workspace, with its high ceilings and abundant natural light, provides office workers with good acoustics and an optimal indoor climate. By placing walkways and circulation areas alongside the edge of the building, everyone has equal access to the view, and can benefit from feeling part of their surroundings even while indoors. The corridor spaces take on the characteristics of a gallery, making urban life part of a dynamic workplace.
Meeting rooms and seated work areas are placed away from the large windows, resulting in less overheating and reliance on indoor climate control. Junckers solid Oak Variation flooring has been installed throughout to provide a unifying backdrop to the interior. A light-coloured floor such as oak further aids daylighting, and an all-natural wooden floor helps maintain an even temperature.
Junckers has a wide range of wooden floors and woodcare products certified under the Danish Indoor Climate Label, ensuring there are no harmful substances in the flooring which adversely affect the air quality in a room.
